Description:
The Second Wind, a growing behavioral health and outpatient healthcare organization, is seeking a detail-oriented AR & Finance Manager with a strong background in healthcare billing, accounts receivable, and general finance. The role will focus heavily on AR and revenue cycle operations while also managing core accounting functions and internal audit responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements
- Prepare financial statements and management reports for leadership
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts on a regular basis
- Manage healthcare billing, AR aging, collections, payer reimbursements, and payment reconciliation
- Monitor cash flow and support budgeting and broader financial operations
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures
- Conduct internal audits of billing, AR, and accounting processes to ensure accuracy, compliance, and identify discrepancies
- Support external audits and regulatory reviews, including preparing documentation and responding to auditor requests
- Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and tax preparers as needed
- Ensure compliance with healthcare financial regulations and reporting requirements
- Identify opportunities to improve billing, collections, and accounting processes
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- 3-5 years of accounting/AR experience, healthcare setting preferred
- CPA or progress toward CPA a plus, not required
- Strong healthcare billing and AR experience, preferably within substance abuse or behavioral health
- Home care, urgent care, outpatient, or similar healthcare experience is highly relevant
- Strong understanding of general accounting, financial statements, and financial operations
- Experience with internal or external audit processes preferred
- Detail-oriented, meticulous, and capable of growing into broader finance and accounting responsibilities
