Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church and School in Potomac Falls, VA seeks an Assistant Facilities Manager
The Assistant Facilities Manager reports to the Facilities Manager and is responsible for assisting the Facilities Manager with the maintenance, upkeep, and operation of the facilities, including buildings, grounds, and equipment. This role often involves performing routine maintenance tasks, ensuring cleanliness and safety, and coordinating with the facilities manager and other staff members.
Key Responsibilities
Support the daily operation and maintenance of multiple facilities, including Church, School and Parish Hall
Conduct routine inspections of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems
Perform minor repairs and coordinate with external contractors
Manage set-up and breakdown for 20+ weekly events, including Mass, classes and community activities
Coordinate and supervise vendors such as HVAC, cleaning, landscaping and security
Maintain detailed maintenance logs, service reports and invoicing procedures
Ensure compliance with safety standards by monitoring fire systems, emergency exits and building conditions
Assist in emergency response situations and in preparation on incident reports
Oversee exterior maintenance of walkways, parking areas, and playing fields. Coordinate seasonal tasks such as snow removal and landscape activities
Manage inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies
Coordinate facility scheduling and room reservations in support of Parish and School activities and seasonal preparations
Provide logistical support for major liturgical events
Be available 24 hours a day, including weekends and holidays, to attend to emergency situations in the Church or School
Act as point person of contact 24 hours a day for Alarm System calls, fire panel and elevator emergencies
Supporting the facilities manager in coordinating work with custodial, maintenance, and contractor personnel.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Appropriate certifications in maintenance/engineering or equivalent experience
- Previous maintenance experience. Supervisory experience in maintenance is a plus.
- Knowledge of maintenance in the fields of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, cement work, sanitation, mechanics, HVAC, grounds maintenance, and janitorial care.
- Problem-solving skills: Ability to identify and address maintenance issues and emergencies.
- Communication and interpersonal skills: Ability to communicate and work effectively with staff, volunteers, and contractors.
- Ability to prepare and implement budgets
- Familiarity with church and school environments.
- Ability to work with a variety of constituents including children.
Starting Salary Range is $28-$30/hour.
