Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Needs Caregiver to provide exceptional care and support to individuals with diverse needs. This vital role involves assisting clients with daily activities, ensuring their safety, and promoting independence within a nurturing environment. Duties
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs, administering medication, and recording changes in condition
- Support residents with mobility using manual handling techniques such as Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption when necessary
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning, sanitation, and organization of living spaces
- Implement and follow personalized care plans designed by healthcare professionals, including dementia, Alzheimer’s, autism, and neurodevelopmental disorder care plans
- Provide transportation assistance for appointments, community outings, or errands to promote social engagement and independence
Qualifications
- Proven experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges such as autism or intellectual disabilities
- Knowledge of patient monitoring techniques including vital signs measurement and medication administration
- Experience in group home settings, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly desirable
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications in hospice care or geriatrics are a plus
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure client confidentiality and privacy
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using proper manual handling techniques and assist with patient transfers using equipment like Hoyer lifts
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration
- Compassionate attitude with patience for working with individuals experiencing dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, or other neurodevelopmental disorders
