Overview
Pilar Floral is a boutique event floral design studio serving the mid-to-luxury market across Southern California and the Central Coast. We're hiring a Studio Operator to assist in running the operational backbone of our business - client communication, scheduling, inventory, and event-day logistics. This is a role with real ownership, best suited to someone who works independently and takes initiative.
Pay: starting at $25/hour
Hours: 15-20 hrs/week, with event day support
Location: Oceanside, CA
What you'll do:
- Respond to client inquiries and maintain our lead tracking sheet
- Manage new client onboarding
- Schedule freelancers for events
- Prepare hard goods and design lists ahead of each event
- Manage client relationships through our CRM (Dubsado)
- Oversee studio inventory
- Help manage flow and setup on event days, working alongside the owner
What we're looking for:
- 2-4 years of floral industry experience - you understand how events run operationally, even if design isn't your focus
- Extreme attention to detail; missed details in scheduling or inventory create real problems on event days
- Genuinely organized, with a natural instinct for improving systems and processes, not just maintaining them
- Retains instructions well and applies them consistently
- A direct, honest communicator who's comfortable with candid feedback in both directions
- Steady under pressure - event days can get chaotic and require clear thinking in the moment
- Resourceful and adaptive when plans shift
- Comfortable with long drives - most events take us to LA, the Central Coast, and desert cities, sometimes with early morning starts
- Must live within 20-25 miles of Oceanside/Vista, CA
- Genuinely understands floral design mechanics, structure, and event logistics well enough to speak the language and contribute meaningfully during production conversations - this role does not build arrangements, but needs to collaborate intelligently with the designer and owner throughout the process
- More drawn to the operational and business side of floral design than to hands-on design work, while still bringing a real creative eye to how you plan and problem-solve
