Whitlam Group is looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Pressroom Assistant to join our manufacturing team. In this hands-on role, you’ll work alongside experienced Flexographic Press Operators to produce high-quality pressure-sensitive and specialty labels used by customers across a variety of industries.
As a Pressroom Assistant, you’ll play an important role in keeping our presses running efficiently while helping ensure every label meets the highest quality standards. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with press setup, operation and changeovers to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Mount and remove printing plates, cylinders and tooling according to job specifications.
- Prepare inks, substrates and production materials for scheduled production runs.
- Support press operations by monitoring materials and assisting with press adjustments throughout production.
- Inspect printed labels for color accuracy, registration and overall print quality.
- Clean press components and perform routine preventive maintenance to keep equipment operating effectively.
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment.
- Follow all safety procedures when handling equipment, inks and chemicals.
- Cross-train on multiple presses and assist other production departments as needed.
- Stack, package and handle finished label rolls.
- Assist with training new team members as experience allows.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and quality standards.
- Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.
- Positive attitude and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Previous manufacturing experience
- Technical or vocational training in printing, graphics arts or manufacturing.
