The Financial Management Services Division of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority is seeking an energetic Senior Accounting Support Analyst. Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to timely and accurate preparation and keying of payment vouchers; payment of invoices using the Small Purchase Charge Card (SPCC) responding to vendor inquiries, and audit, analyze and reconcile agency expenses to ensure compliance with State guidelines as required by CAPP (Commonwealth Accounting Policies and Procedures), as well as Federal guidelines.
This position coordinates bailment liquor invoices; monitors Prompt Pay compliance; and enters financial transactions into automated systems while maintaining the integrity of financial records.
Areas of Responsibility
- Ability to research, analyze, reconcile, and evaluate financial data with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently, prioritize assignments, multitask, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to interpret and apply authority, state, and federal regulations, policies, and procedures
- Strong mathematical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, automated financial systems, and other PC applications
- Knowledge of Commonwealth Accounting Policies and Procedures (CAPP) and applicable state and federal regulations
- Strong customer service, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Ability to train or communicate compliance-related information to internal and external customers
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with accounting coursework or general fiscal office experience
- Experience using automated financial systems and interfacing systems
- Demonstrated customer service experience
- Experience with PC applications including spreadsheets and databases
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a state agency or public-sector accounting environment Experience with Accounts Payable processing and reconciliation activities
- Experience with financial management systems and state accounting procedures
- Experience with the use of eVA Virginia’s Marketplace
