American Traveler is hiring an Ultrasound Technologist with 5+ years of experience for a Radiology position at a small critical access hospital in Wadesboro, NC, requiring ARDMS or ARRT-S certification and the ability to work independently as the sole sonographer on shift.

Small 15-bed hospital with an 8-bed ED attached to a Primary Care Clinic

One dedicated ultrasound room with additional bedside scanning

Primarily adult patients with very limited pediatric cases
-
Common cases include gallstones, pancreatitis, testicular, hernias, ovarian torsion, ectopic pregnancies, extremity DVT studies, and carotid studies

Average daily census of 10–12 scans

No on-site interventions, biopsies, or special procedures performed

EMR: Epic (preferred); PACS: Philips VUE; Equipment: Siemens Sequoia (preferred)

4x10-hour day shifts, Tuesday–Friday, 9:00 AM–7:00 PM
-
Weekend coverage is generally not required but may be requested if the weekend tech is unavailable

On-call required 1–2 nights per week, any day of the week, from 7:00 PM–7:00 AM with a 30–45 minute response time; call-backs limited to emergencies such as DVT, torsions, and ectopic pregnancies

Floating is limited to bedside only

Minimum of 5 years of ultrasound experience

ARDMS certification required; RVT preferred; ARRT-S also accepted

BLS required

License required if applicable

Experience with abdominal, doppler, early OB scans (2nd trimester or less), DVT studies, and carotids
-
Must be comfortable working independently as the sole ultrasound technologist on shift

Epic EMR experience preferred

Siemens Sequoia experience preferred

Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with comfort working with diverse and lower socioeconomic status patient populations

Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
-
Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Perform general ultrasound imaging including abdominal, doppler, early OB, DVT, carotid, and emergency studies
-
No on-site radiologist; images are read remotely, with phone access to the radiologist for urgent or concerning scans
-
Support staff includes a Patient Service Rep, Respiratory Therapy (24/7), ED physician (24/7), and additional radiology staff available for patient support
-
Manager and supervisor are available on-site for support
-
Orientation includes NEO and 2–3 shifts of unit-specific orientation
-
First-time travelers will be considered provided they have sufficient experience

Holiday coverage is required if the holiday falls within the set schedule
-
RTO requests must be approved by the manager
-
Candidates who have previously worked a permanent position at an AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible

Black scrubs required
