Payroll and Billing Specialist
APS Medical Billing, located in Toledo, Ohio, is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our team. The Payroll Specialist assists with payroll to make sure employees are paid accurately and timely, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This role also supports HRIS system administration, audits, reporting, and payroll-related employee inquiries. This position aligns closely with Human Resources and accounting functions. This person brings strong attention to detail, a high level of confidentiality, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Assists with managing, maintaining, and ensuring the accuracy of all payroll-related records and processes including timecard hours, overtime, bonuses, vacation, PTO adjustments, payroll related leave and benefit records administration. This role is critical to compliance and smooth Payroll/HR/Finance operations.
· Supports HRIS system functions, including entering data, audits, reporting and system updates.
· Maintains confidentiality of payroll records, personnel files, and other confidential reports.
· Must be organized, detail oriented and able to work independently in a fast paced environment.
· Process multi-state payroll reports and wage reports.
· Updates payroll system with new hires, promotions and terminations.
· Responds to employee questions regarding pay and deductions
· Ensures compliance with federal, state and local labor payroll regulations and balance tax filings to the general ledger.
· Maintains payroll and related records recording the accumulation and use of vacations, holidays, sick days, and leaves of absence.
· Deducts health insurance premiums, life, 401(k) contributions, and wage garnishments.
· Prepares reports as needed.
· Communicates with insurance carriers and other program vendors.
· Assists with the 401(k) plan contributions, loans, auditing, etc.
· Assists with filing federal, state, and local tax reports, remits payroll taxes, and manages W-2/year-end statements.
EXPERIENCE
· Experience: 4–5 years of payroll processing experience. Knowledge of multistate and municipality jurisdictions a plus
· Software Proficiency: Mastery of payroll platforms such as Kronos or UKG.
· Technical Skills: High attention to detail, Strict adherence to confidentiality and excellent problem-solving and communication abilities
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience
· Certification: FCP or CPP Certification a plus

Pay: $26.00 - $28.00 per hour
