Responsibilities
- Perform sterilization, decontamination, and reprocessing of surgical instruments, endoscopes, and other medical equipment using approved sterilization methods.
- Assemble, inspect, and package sterile medical instruments with precision to ensure readiness for surgical procedures.
- Manage inventory levels of sterile supplies and medical instruments, ensuring proper storage and timely replenishment.
- Follow strict infection control protocols and aseptic techniques during all stages of instrument handling to prevent cross-contamination.
- Conduct routine maintenance and validation of sterilization equipment to guarantee optimal performance.
- Document all sterilization processes accurately, including cycle logs, instrument tracking, and quality assurance records.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure all sterile processing activities meet healthcare infection prevention standards and regulatory requirements.
After training you will have:
- Knowledge of sterile processing procedures, including medical instrument assembly, packaging, and sterilization techniques.
- Proficiency in inventory management systems for tracking supplies and ensuring availability of sterile instruments.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, surgical procedures, and medical equipment operation.
- Expertise in infection prevention management, including infection control practices specific to healthcare environments.
- Experience with endoscope reprocessing and handling complex surgical instruments requiring specialized cleaning protocols.
- Ability to adhere strictly to aseptic techniques and maintain meticulous documentation for compliance purposes.
