Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts and other assistive devices.
- Monitor and record vital signs, observe patient conditions, and report changes promptly to nursing staff.
- Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner.
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols, especially in infectious disease or ICU settings.
- Provide compassionate care for individuals with developmental disabilities, memory care needs, or behavioral health challenges, including dementia and Alzheimer's care.
- Assist with patient transfers, positioning, and use of specialized equipment such as bed alarms or mobility aids.
- Document patient interactions accurately in medical records while respecting HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards.
Experience
- Prior experience working in diverse healthcare environments such as hospitals (including trauma centers), nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or outpatient clinics is highly valued.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for medical documentation and patient care tracking.
- Experience supporting patients with complex needs including ICU, emergency medicine, post-acute care, or behavioral health is preferred.
- Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and clinical procedures such as catheter care or phlebotomy enhances your ability to deliver exceptional care.
- Previous caregiving roles involving pediatrics or geriatrics provide a strong foundation for this position.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications like medication administration or DME training are advantageous.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments such as urgent care or surgical units while maintaining attention to detail and patient safety.
