Job Overview
As an Electro-Optics Technician reporting to the Operations Manager, you'll play a critical role in assembling, aligning, integrating, and testing Advanced EO’s products—such as IR and visible imagers, pan-tilt gimbals, and long-range surveillance systems. You’ll work hands-on within our optical labs and integration/test areas, contributing to field-deployable systems.
Key Responsibilities
Electro-Optical Assembly & Alignment
- o Precision alignment of optical components – lenses, mirrors, sensors – for IR and visible imaging assemblies.
- o Integration of optical sub-assemblies and systems into gimbals, pan-tilts, and sensors.
- System Integration & Testing
- Assemble and integrate subsystems including IR imagers, visible imagers, lasers, and control interfaces.
- Operate test lab and environmental equipment (e.g., interferometers, collimators, vibration tables, thermal chambers).
Quality & Process Compliance
- Follow AS9100D / ISO 9001 documented procedures in fabrication, assembly, and testing
- Use clean-room practices, ESD handling, and contamination control.
Support Across Full Lifecycle
- Work from raw aluminum stock through to painted systems thanks to our full in-house machining and test capabilities.
- Assist with prototypes, product upgrades, and zero-obsolescence modular designs ensuring backward compatibility.
Documentation & Troubleshooting
- Record test data, build notes, and alignment procedures.
- Troubleshoot optical, mechanical, and electronic performance issues and support root cause analysis.
Team Collaboration
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, production, and integration teams.
- Support rapid response proposals, system customization, and customer-specific enhancements.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in opto-mechanical or electro-optical system assembly, alignment, and testing.
- Technical background (Associate’s in optics, photonics, mechanical technology, or similar; bachelor’s preferred).
- Proficiency with precision optical alignment tools (e.g., collimators, interferometers).
- Experience with infrared and visible imaging systems, sensors, and electro-optical subsystems.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and conform to AS9100D/ISO 9001 standards.
- Strong attention to detail, methodical work ethic, and ability to work effectively in clean-room environments.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- U.S. Person eligibility required (for compliance with ITAR and defense contracting).
- Background in optical integration, modular EO systems, or multi-sensor platforms.
- Familiarity with rapid prototyping and supporting lifecycle extension through backwards compatibility
