Definition:
The SLPA is authorized to provide language and speech development and remediation services as prescribed, directed, and supervised by an ASHA certified and CA SLPAB licensed Speech-Language Pathologist. Works under immediate supervision of the Speech Language Program Director or Supervisor at Beacon Day School. An employee of this classification meets guidelines developed by the American Speech–Language-Hearing Association for Speech-Language Pathology Assistants, as well as California State requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential duties and responsibilities of this class include but are not limited to:
- Follows documented treatment plans and protocols developed by the Speech Pathologist Supervisor;
- Accurately collects and records observational and objective data per department protocols;
- Prepares therapy materials and/or equipment for use in therapy activities;
- Works with augmentative communication devices and equipment;
- Maintains schedule, student charts/records, and graphs or otherwise displays student performance data per department protocols.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities.
Knowledge and Skills
- Proper use of and care for the materials, supplies and equipment employed in performing duties and responsibilities;
- Efficient use of computers and internet resources in the completion of assigned duties;
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with Beacon Day School Staff;
- Ability to plan accordingly and meet deadlines;
- Ability to maintain great sense of confidentiality;
- Ability to work collaboratively and professionally;
- Ability to follow Beacon Day School policies and procedures;
- Ability to work in an office/educational setting environment on a daily, full-time basis;

Minimum Qualifications:
- SLPA certification is required;
- High School Diploma is required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred;
- Experience working with Children with Autism and related disorders;
