Position Title: Combination Welder/Fitter
Location: Louisiana & Mississippi Gulf Coast (Relocation Required)

Position Summary
Elite Workforce LLC is seeking experienced Combination Welder/Fitters for shipyard and marine construction projects along the Louisiana and Mississippi Gulf Coast. Candidates must possess strong fitting and welding skills, be capable of passing shipyard welding qualification tests, and meet applicable American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) welding certification requirements. Successful candidates will perform structural fabrication, assembly, fitting, and welding of marine vessels, offshore structures, and related components while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, weld symbols, specifications, and work instructions.
- Lay out, fit, align, and assemble structural steel, aluminum, and marine components according to shipyard standards.
- Perform tack welding and final welding using approved welding procedures.
- Weld in various positions including flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead.
- Operate welding equipment including FCAW, SMAW, GMAW, and other processes as required by project specifications.
- Fabricate and install bulkheads, decks, foundations, brackets, stiffeners, piping supports, and structural assemblies.
- Use measuring tools and layout equipment to ensure dimensional accuracy.
- Inspect completed work to verify compliance with drawings, quality standards, and ABS requirements.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area in accordance with OSHA and shipyard safety regulations.
- Work effectively with supervisors, inspectors, and other trades to meet production schedules.
- Perform grinding, gouging, burning, and material preparation as required.
- Follow all company, customer, and regulatory safety procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of shipyard, marine, offshore, heavy industrial, or structural welding/fitting experience.
- Ability to pass a shipyard welding test and practical fitter assessment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain applicable ABS welding qualifications/certifications.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings.
- Experience fitting and welding carbon steel and/or aluminum structures.
- Knowledge of welding codes, quality standards, and marine fabrication practices.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work overtime, weekends, and shift work as required.
Welding Skills Required
Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in one or more of the following:
- FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding)
- SMAW (Stick Welding)
- GMAW/MIG Welding
- Carbon Arc Gouging
- Structural and plate welding
- Multi-pass welds
- Vertical and overhead welding
- Weld joint preparation and fit-up
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, and access confined spaces.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, crouch, and work in physically demanding environments for extended periods.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to wear required PPE, including respirators when necessary.
Relocation Requirement
- Must be willing to relocate or travel for projects throughout the Louisiana and Mississippi Gulf Coast region.
- Reliable transportation required.
- Per diem and travel benefits may be available depending on project location.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current ABS welding certifications.
- Shipyard-specific welding qualifications.
- NCCER certification.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience working on new construction, repair, retrofit, and conversion projects.

Pay: $24.65 - $30.00 per hour
