Night Auditor / Overnight Security
Pay: $21.70 per hour
Location: Hampton Inn & Suites Seattle Northgate
Schedule: Overnight shift, 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM. Weekend and holiday availability required.
The Hampton Inn & Suites Seattle Northgate is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented, and service-focused Night Auditor / Overnight Security to join our team. This position is responsible for providing exceptional overnight guest service while ensuring the safety and security of our guests, team members, and property.
The ideal candidate is professional, observant, and capable of working independently during overnight hours. This position combines front desk operations, night audit responsibilities, and hotel security functions to help deliver a safe, welcoming, and well-managed guest experience.
Position Summary
The Night Auditor / Overnight Security serves as the primary point of contact for overnight guests while completing nightly revenue audits and maintaining the security of the hotel. This position is responsible for guest check-in and check-out procedures, handling guest requests, balancing daily financial transactions, preparing audit reports, monitoring hotel premises, responding to security concerns, and ensuring compliance with hotel policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Services & Front Desk Operations
- Greet guests in a friendly, professional, and welcoming manner.
- Provide efficient and accurate guest check-in and check-out services.
- Answer telephone calls promptly and respond to guest inquiries and requests.
- Make, modify, and cancel reservations as needed.
- Address questions regarding room rates, hotel amenities, and local attractions.
- Respond to guest requests and follow up to ensure satisfaction and service excellence.
- Handle guest concerns, complaints, and compliments professionally and appropriately.
- Promote guest loyalty programs and guest satisfaction initiatives.
- Maintain strict guest privacy and confidentiality standards.
- Maintain effective room key control and room security procedures.
- Perform cash-handling responsibilities and maintain an accurate cash bank.
Night Audit & Accounting Responsibilities
- Complete the nightly audit process accurately and on schedule.
- Ensure accurate reconciliation of daily revenue from all hotel departments and outlets.
- Prepare and distribute daily financial and operational reports to management.
- Generate backup documentation and audit reports.
- Review and analyze discrepancies, rate variances, and credit reports.
- Complete all required end-of-day accounting procedures and audit checklists.
- Maintain proper control and tracking of sensitive and proprietary documents.
Security & Safety Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols and surveillance of hotel premises and public areas.
- Monitor property activity and identify suspicious behavior or security concerns.
- Assist in preventing theft, vandalism, trespassing, and other criminal activity.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies, disturbances, and guest safety concerns.
- Maintain a visible security presence throughout the property.
- Document security incidents and communicate concerns to management.
- Ensure compliance with hotel safety policies, procedures, and emergency protocols.
- Help maintain a safe and secure environment for guests, visitors, and team members.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of hotel night audit experience and/or one (1) year of hotel front desk experience required.
- Previous security, law enforcement, military, or safety-related experience preferred.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
- Experience with hotel Property Management Systems (PMS) preferred.
- Previous Hilton, Marriott, or branded hotel experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Exceptional customer service skills with a commitment to guest satisfaction.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and confident while handling emergencies and difficult situations.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and auditing.
- Basic accounting and mathematical skills, including cash handling and reconciliation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Ability to analyze information, solve problems, and make sound decisions independently.
- Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
- High level of observation, situational awareness, and attention to safety and security.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling guest and company information.
- Ability to work independently during overnight hours with limited supervision.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Work is performed throughout the hotel, including front desk, lobby, guest corridors, and exterior property areas.
- Ability to stand, walk, and remain mobile for extended periods during an eight-hour shift.
- Ability to conduct routine security patrols throughout the property.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements.
- Ability to operate computers, telephones, security systems, and office equipment.
- Visual acuity and hearing sufficient to monitor surroundings, identify security concerns, and interact effectively with guests and team members.
- Ability to respond quickly and appropriately in emergency situations.
