Responsibilities
- Greet clients warmly and manage the front desk, including scheduling appointments, answering phone inquiries, and maintaining accurate records.
- Assist veterinary staff with animal handling, restraint, and behavior management to ensure safe and stress-free examinations and procedures.
- Support medical procedures by preparing animals for surgery or diagnostics, including cleaning, animal husbandry, and assisting with IV insertions and medication administration.
- Maintain cleanliness of the clinic by performing thorough cleaning duties, sterilizing equipment, and ensuring a hygienic environment for animals and staff.
- Handle record keeping diligently by updating patient files, documenting treatments, medications administered, and other essential veterinary terminology.
- Assist with animal care tasks such as feeding, grooming, and monitoring animal welfare to promote optimal health and comfort.
- Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding pet care instructions, treatment plans, and follow-up needs to foster trust and understanding.
Skills
- Previous kennel experience or veterinary clinic experience is highly valued for understanding animal handling protocols.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and critical care practices enhances your ability to support medical teams effectively.
- Skilled in dog handling, animal restraint techniques, and animal behavior recognition to ensure safety during examinations or procedures.
- Experience with surgical assistance, medication administration, IV insertion, catheterization, and animal husbandry practices is preferred.
- Strong client communication skills to explain treatment plans clearly and compassionately to pet owners.
- Ability to maintain meticulous record keeping while managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with personal protective equipment (PPE) use and proper cleaning protocols ensures safety for both staff and animals.
