Roots Catering is seeking a skilled and reliable full-time Sous Chef to support kitchen operations and execute high-quality food preparation for catered events. This includes weddings, corporate gatherings, private parties, and large-scale productions. The Sous Chef is responsible for preparing menu items in accordance with company standards and, as needed, serving as the Event Chef on-site. The ideal candidate is adaptable, detail-oriented, and thrives in both kitchen production and live event environments.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare food for catered events in accordance with established recipes, quality standards, and timelines

Assist in daily kitchen operations, including prep production, inventory management, and organization

Serve as Event Chef for catered events as assigned, overseeing on-site food execution and presentation

Ensure all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations are strictly followed

Collaborate with culinary and event teams to ensure seamless event execution

Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace in both kitchen and event settings

Assist with loading, transporting, and setting up food and equipment for off-site events as needed

Adapt to changing event needs and timelines with professionalism and efficiency
Qualifications

Previous experience in a professional kitchen environment required; catering or event experience preferred

Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations

Availability to work weekends and evenings as required by event schedules

Compensation

Hourly pay range: $25.00 $30.00, based on experience
