About us
Dancing with RKDC is a non-profit dance education program based in Torrance, California. We are the education arm of the Regina Klenjoski Dance Company. For the past 25 years we have offered dance education to children ages 3 - 17 years. Our schedule has over 30 classes in ballet, jazz, hip hop, and more. Recitals take place every March and November with anywhere from 200-250 students! All classes take place at the Torrance Cultural Arts Center in Torrance, CA. The Position
Dancing with RKDC seeks a highly committed, qualified, and experienced kids dance instructor with verifiable experience teaching dance to children ages 2 - 6 years old. The applicant must be available on SATURDAY MORNINGS consistently and have dance training & experience teaching a combination of at least 2 of these class types:
ballet, ballet/tap
creative movement
hip hop
jazz fundamentals
parent & me classes
Position Start Date: Summer/Fall 2026.
All teachers are hired as independent contractors and must submit to a background check (around $50). This cost is not reimbursed.
Qualifications:
- Reliable
- STRONG organization and oral/written communication skills.
- Personable and energetic -- loves working with children.
- Comfortable with some technical and administrative work such as composing emails, selecting costumes, keeping track of class data such as costume sizes.
- Experience teaching ballet to children ages 2-6yrs
- A desire for long term work (at least 1 year or more)
- Coachable and welcomes feedback.
- Collaborative and highly dedicated.
- Reliable transportation to Torrance.
- 3 Verifiable references. Two of your references should have knowledge of your teaching experience with children.
- Early education credits a plus, but not required.
- B.A./B.F.A. in dance or related is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities:
- Create & teach fun, engaging lessons that include developmentally appropriate choreography for the age/level you are instructing.
- Attend staff meetings (5-6 per year).
- Attend all scheduled recital rehearsals and performances.
- Prepare your classes for recital: Costumes, Music, Choreography, Lighting, Rehearsal.
- Interact with families regarding their child's class (recital details, child's progress, etc).
Pay: $27 - $32 per class commensurate with experience and qualifications. This range is firm. Instructors are hired as 1099, independent contractors. We do not compensate for travel.
Additional Pay: Instructors receive additional pay during show seasons and staff meetings.
