We are looking for a COOKING Workshop Instructor for the 2026-2027 program year. We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and resourceful Cooking Instructor to lead engaging after-school cooking classes for middle school students in groups of 20–24 participants. The ideal candidate has experience teaching youth basic cooking techniques, kitchen safety, and healthy meal preparation in a fun, supportive, and hands-on learning environment. The Workshop Instructor will work with middle school students in Bresee’s BAM afterschool program with a vision to positively impact youth in our neighborhood through intentional curriculum-based enrichment workshops.
Monday/Wednesday
Cooking, 3:15PM to 6:15PM
When: August 2026 - June 2027
Expectations:
- Plan and lead two interactive back-to-back cooking lessons for classes of up to 24 middle school students.
- Teach fundamental cooking skills, including food preparation, measuring, and following recipes.
- Instruct and reinforce safe kitchen practices, proper food handling, and sanitation.
- Prepare healthy, nutritious, and age-appropriate recipes that encourage lifelong healthy eating habits.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe classroom kitchen environment.
- Foster a positive, inclusive atmosphere that encourages teamwork, creativity, and student participation.
- Submit monthly workshop syllabus.
- Prepare students for winter and spring showcases
- Participate in quarterly check-ins.
Qualifications:
- Experience teaching cooking or culinary skills to youth, preferably middle school-aged students.
- Knowledge of kitchen safety, food sanitation, and nutrition.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Ability to engage and motivate students in a hands-on learning environment.
- Passion for teaching healthy cooking and inspiring confidence in young learners.
- Ability to adapt to program requirements and needs.
Rate of Pay: $30/hr.

All workshop instructors are considered independent contractors and are required to undergo a criminal background check, in addition to providing proof of a negative TB test taken within the last six months.
