Psychiatric Medical Assistant

Qualifications
Required
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant or in a similar clinical support role.
- Experience in psychiatry or behavioral health settings
- Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems and electronic health records management.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to provide compassionate patient care across diverse populations.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.Preferred
- Graduate of certified medical assistant program or equivalent or active licensure
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).Essential ResponsibilitiesClinical Support
- Prepare patients for psychiatric appointments.
- Obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, and medication reconciliations.
- Assist with clinical procedures within scope of practice.
- Administer medications, immunizations, and treatments as appropriate for licensure and organizational policy.
- Coordinate laboratory testing, referrals, prior authorizations, and follow-up care.
- Respond to patient messages and telephone calls in collaboration with providers.
- Maintain examination rooms, supplies, and equipment.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record.
- General office skills.
- Disseminate information by telephone, mail service or e-mail.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Scheduling and managing patient appointments and referrals with required documentation.
- Clean, prepare, and sterilize instruments.
- Performs electrocardiograms, phlebotomy, and laboratory procedures as directed by health care provider, including but not limited to pregnancy tests, strep tests, urine dips, hemoglobin, and blood sugar testing.
- Collect, prepare, and perform basic laboratory specimens and tests.
- Instruct patients about medications.
- Telephone prescriptions to pharmacy.
- Observe and follow required safety protocols, including handling and disposal of sharps, use of personal protective equipment, exposure to blood borne pathogens, and general safety of employees and patients.

Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to assist patients during routine clinical care.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to perform clinical procedures and documentation.
