Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including reviewing medical histories and current nutritional status.
- Develop personalized nutrition plans aligned with medical and dental treatment goals, emphasizing pediatric dentistry and general health.
- Educate patients on dental and medical nutrition, promoting healthy habits and infection prevention strategies.
- Utilize electronic health records (EHR) systems such as EMR/EHR platforms to document assessments, care plans, and progress notes accurately.
- Review medical coding and documentation to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Collaborate with dental teams to integrate nutritional counseling into overall patient care, including pediatric dentistry and dental hygiene procedures.
- Stay current with medical terminology, dental terminology, and healthcare infection prevention protocols to provide accurate guidance.
- Manage medical imaging reports, vital signs data, and dental x-ray information as part of comprehensive patient evaluations.
Skills
- Proficiency in EHR systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for documentation and patient record management.
- Strong knowledge of dental equipment, dental x-ray procedures, and infection control practices within a healthcare setting.
- Expertise in pediatric dentistry, including age-specific dietary recommendations and patient education techniques.
- Familiarity with four-handed dentistry concepts to understand clinical workflows in dental environments.
- Ability to interpret medical imaging, vital signs, and medical records accurately for holistic patient assessment.
- Excellent client communication skills to effectively educate patients about dental care, nutrition, and health maintenance strategies.
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance management, aseptic techniques, medical coding, and documentation review processes.
