Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled SMT Machine Operator for our 3rd shift team. The Surface Mount Operator, reporting to the Surface Mount Technician, is responsible for the set-up, operation, general maintenance and upkeep of equipment associated with the production of circuit boards. The SMT Operator produces finished or semi-finished product and readies them for shipment to the customer. Responsibilities include the interpretation of the assembly instructions; monitoring and replenishment of component supplies; visually inspecting and counting product; packing product in approved containers; and labeling packed containers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accurately interpret shop instructions to ensure that all components are manufactured properly
- Load components into automated workstations and monitor machine performance
- Test and visually inspect finished product for proper function and appearance
- Count and pack product
- Prepare and apply labels to packing cartons
- Prepare Statistical Process Control reports
- Provide regular and prompt attendance
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Must be able to work independently, with limited supervision, and within a team
- Must be detail oriented and organized
- Must be able to maintain a safe working environment
- Must have the ability to read and accurately interpret assembly instructions and blueprints and to extract detailed information from multiple sources to include resistor part numbers from prints and BOMs
- Must possess a quality mind-set and have the ability to assess performance standards, identify root cause of problems, and to implement correct actions
- Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively work with all levels within the organization
- Must be able to learn the equipment set-up process and to be responsible for the set-up process
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- In-depth understanding of mathematical concepts gained through completion of a high school curriculum; high school algebra at a minimum, trigonometry is a plus
- Basic understanding of the function and use of measurement devices such as calipers and multi-meters for use in measuring ohms, volts, and amperage
- Proficiency with computer based programs to include logging, opening and closing programs
- Experience in the safe operation of mechanical devices such as hand tools and soldering equipment
- Possess a working knowledge of the company’s work order system
ENVIRONMENT
- Duties are performed indoors at the corporate offices in Grandview, MO.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and be able to occasionally move about inside the office and manufacturing facilities
- Must be able to be in motion, walking, pulling, pushing, and lifting for up to 50% of the time
- Must be able to occasionally lift and transport containers weighing up to 50lbs
- Occasionally operates manufacturing equipment
- The person in this position frequently communicates with others internally who may have various inquiries, etc. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.13 - $26.10 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
