Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility using tools like Hoyer lifts and other assistive devices.
- Monitor and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates, ensuring proper documentation in electronic health records (EHR systems).
- Support medication administration under supervision, following strict aseptic techniques and HIPAA regulations to maintain patient safety and confidentiality.
- Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, including memory care strategies and behavioral health support.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams in acute care settings such as ICU, emergency medicine, or Level I trauma centers to deliver timely patient service and support complex medical procedures.
- Maintain infection control standards by practicing aseptic techniques during patient interactions and medical procedures like catheter care or phlebotomy.
- Assist with medical documentation and ensure accurate recording of patient information using EMR systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks.
- Support patients across various environments including outpatient clinics, inpatient units, sub-acute care facilities, hospice settings, or home & community care programs.
- Use your physiology knowledge to observe changes in patient condition and communicate effectively with nurses or physicians for prompt intervention.
Experience
- Prior experience working in diverse healthcare environments such as hospitals (including ICU, PICU), nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or outpatient clinics is highly valued.
- Demonstrated expertise in caring for individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs enhances your ability to provide comprehensive support.
- Experience with medical-surgical procedures, medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and medical documentation using EMR/EHR systems is preferred.
- Familiarity with specialized areas such as geriatrics, dementia care (including Alzheimer's), hospice care, infectious disease care, or trauma center environments is advantageous.
- Certification in basic life support (BLS) is required; additional certifications like phlebotomy or advanced patient care are a plus.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology aids in delivering precise patient assessments and interventions across age groups from pediatrics to geriatrics.
- Ability to work effectively within fast-paced settings such as urgent care or emergency departments while maintaining compassionate patient service is essential.
