Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The Assistant Director of Facilities & Event Management coordinates the day-to-day functions of assigned events and sports programs, plans, and organizes activities, and communicates program policy and procedures. This position establishes and maintains positive working relationships with internal and external university constituents including coaches, staff, officials, and vendors.
The Assistant Director of Facilities & Event Management oversees assigned athletic facilities for upkeep and maintenance and ensures facility is prepared and ready for competition and spectator use. This position identifies, understands, and problem solves issues in assigned areas. The Assistant Director also supervises and manages student workers and various temporary employees and serves as the main program contact and game day manager for sports to be determined based on experience. This position is responsible for ensuring event operations for all UNCW athletic events meet set expectations. Some grounds maintenance will be required.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Preferred education, professional skills and experience
- Prior relevant working experience in Division I athletic programs.
- Experience with athletics facilities and event management.
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations concerning athletic programs.
- Experience with electronic work order programs.
Required Certifications or licensure
CPR/Bloodborne Pathogen Certification within 90 days of hire.
