American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist with a minimum of 3 years of experience and proficiency in total joint, sports medicine, general, and ortho spine procedures for a hospital OR position.

Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM, with a call rotation

Every other weekend availability may be required

13-week contract

Minimum of 3 years of surgical technologist experience required

NBSTSA certification required
-
Trade or technical school certificate or diploma in Surgical Technology required

Active state license required if applicable

Proficiency in total joint, sports medicine, general, and ortho spine procedures

Facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures under the direct supervision of the surgeon
-
Check and prepare supplies and equipment needed for each procedure
-
Scrub, gown, and glove self, surgeon, and surgical assistants
-
Perform instrument, sponge, and needle counts with the circulator before incision and before closure
-
Assist with draping the sterile field and pass instruments to the surgeon throughout the procedure

Maintain the highest standard of sterile technique throughout all procedures
-
Assist with terminal cleaning of the OR and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization

Assist in prepping the surgical suite for the next patient

Assist in training new employees and students in the surgical technologist role

The ST is not permitted to function in the circulating nurse or first assistant role, and may not administer medications or complete patient records

Holiday coverage is expected for Christmas Day, New Year's Day, Thanksgiving, Labor Day, Memorial Day, and the Fourth of July

Candidates who live within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but will be subject to a different pay rate
-
Travelers may work a maximum of 2 consecutive 13-week assignments and must leave the facility for at least 26 weeks before returning
