Position Summary:
The F/A-18 Aircraft Worker performs a variety of tasks related to the servicing, inspection, maintenance, and support of F/A-18 aircraft. Under the supervision of higher-level technicians or supervisors, this role involves assisting in the maintenance and repair of aircraft systems, components, and structures to ensure airworthiness and mission readiness.
This position is Fulltime, hourly position and the job duties are performed onsite on Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, San, Diego, California.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Make repairs to F/A-18 aircraft following orders of more senior technicians.

Work may include, but is not limited to, replacing or repairing worn or damaged components, such as carburetors, alternators, magnetos, fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, and engine mounted gearboxes, and compressor bleed valves using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment; removing engine from aircraft, using hoist or forklift truck, disassembling and inspecting parts for wear, cracks, security, or other defects, and repairing or replacing defective engine parts and reassembles and installs engine in F/A-18 aircraft.

Performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections,

Performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing crankcase, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes.

Enters in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verify the work was performed satisfactorily, may service engines and airframe components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul, required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition,

May specialize in work, repair and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies, and may specialize in engine repair.

Perform other qualified duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills Required:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum four (4) years’ experience with USN/USMC F/A-18 Aircraft preferable.

Must be able to obtain Plane Captain qualification within 90 days.

Knowledge and use of special tools/equipment required to perform assigned maintenance tasks is mandatory.

Must be physically able to perform all assigned duties. Must have a valid driver license.

Ability to read and interpret technical publications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

Should be a self-motivated and be able to perform work with minimum supervision.

Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and/or pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks.

US Citizenship required due to the nature of the work.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:

This position requires normal physical functions.

Work may require frequent bending, reaching and climbing.

Frequently lift and carry items weighing up to fifty pounds and occasionally lifting heavier items with the assistance of other workers.

Work may be performed on top or under equipment in cramped or awkward positions.

The hourly rate for this position is $46.13 (this pay rate does not include health and welfare).
This position is subject union and collective bargaining requirements.
