Project Manager Civil Infrastructure (Roads, Bridges, Highways)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead planning, design and delivery of civil infrastructure projects focused on roads, bridges, highways, and paving. The role is responsible for successful execution from pre-construction through closeout ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, meet quality and safety standards, and satisfy client expectations. The ideal candidate combines strong construction management background with technical civil engineering knowledge and proven leadership in transportation projects.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage multiple civil construction projects (roads, bridges, highways, paving) from pre-construction through commissioning and closeout.

Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, cash flows and progress forecasts; proactively manage cost control and change orders.

Coordinate and supervise project teams, consultants, and subcontractors; assign tasks, set priorities and monitor performance to meet milestones.

Serve as primary client and stakeholder contact; maintain strong client relationships and ensure clear, timely communication of project status, risks and deliverables.

Oversee contract administration, procurement, bidding support and negotiation with suppliers and subcontractors.

Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress, quality, safety compliance and to resolve technical or schedule issues.

Implement and enforce health, safety and environmental procedures; ensure crews and subcontractors follow company and regulatory standards.

Review and approve technical submittals, shop drawings, method statements and quality control documentation.

Identify, assess and mitigate risks; prepare contingency plans and lead resolution of disputes or claims.

Prepare project reports, meeting minutes, and documentation required for progress reporting, invoicing and final closeout.

Provide mentorship, training and performance feedback to project engineers and site staff; foster a collaborative, safety-first culture.
Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field; Masters degree a plus.

Minimum 3-5 years experience managing civil construction or transportation infrastructure projects, including roads, bridges, highways and paving.

Demonstrated experience with project management of large-scale civil works, including contract administration, cost control and schedule management.

Strong technical knowledge of geotechnical, structural and pavement engineering principles relevant to highways and bridges.

Professional certification such as PMP and/or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain.

Proficiency with project scheduling and management software (MS Project, Primavera P6), and familiarity with AutoCAD/Civil 3D or similar design tools.

Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder-management skills; proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.

Working knowledge of local, state and federal transportation standards, regulations and permitting processes.

Experience with health and safety management systems and certifications (e.g., OSHA 30, Site Safety training).

Valid drivers license and ability to travel to project sites regularly; willingness to work on-site as project needs require.
