Responsibilities
- Safely operate various types of commercial trucks such as tractor-trailers, flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, tankers, and dump trucks across designated routes.
- Load and unload freight efficiently while complying with all safety standards and cargo handling procedures.
- Navigate routes using GPS navigation systems to ensure timely deliveries while optimizing fuel efficiency.
- Follow all FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) rules, and hazardous materials regulations when transporting goods.
- Handle logistics cargo with precision, including securing loads on flatbeds or roll-off trucks and managing dangerous goods or hazardous materials when required.
- Maintain accurate records of driving hours, delivery documentation, inspection reports, and logs in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after trips to ensure safety and proper functioning; report any maintenance issues promptly.
Requirements
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a focus on route driving and delivery operations.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) appropriate for the vehicle type; experience with manual transmission preferred.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocols for transporting dangerous goods.
- Ability to operate various equipment such as forklifts or dump trucks when necessary for cargo handling.
- Strong manual handling skills for load & unload activities; familiarity with logistics cargo handling procedures.
- Experience driving different vehicle configurations including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, tankers, and roll-off trucks.
- Excellent navigation skills using GPS systems; ability to plan efficient routes under tight schedules.
- Physical stamina to stand, sit, lift heavy loads safely, and perform manual tasks throughout shifts.
