Assistant Steward Responsibilities:
- Greets and communicates with all members & staff in a friendly, courteous, and prompt manner
- Assist culinary service professionals during operations by conducting major scheduled cleaning tasks
- Organizing loading docks and maintaining banquet equipment
- Conduct light landscaping and custodial work for outside events
- Provide sanitation products to mitigate risks of food allergies and contamination
- Securely move equipment from storage to event spaces
- Inspect equipment for failure and perform preventative maintenance
- Check and service (PMCS) of equipment
- Communicate equipment failures or damage to the stewarding manager immediately
- Adhere to appropriate mis-end-place when storing equipment
- Ensuring that heating and cooling equipment is functional before events
- Checking for correct hot and cold holding temperatures in the time leading up to assigned events
- Communicates kindly, clearly, and efficiently with team members, receives information and feedback, takes action on observations and feedback received
- Complies with departmental and Club policies and procedures
- Complies with departmental and Club appearance standards
- Reports to work as indicated on schedule
- Works a variety of shifts to include holidays, nights, and all weekends
- Performs all other duties assigned by any TLC manager
Assistant Steward Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Driver's license and clean driving record
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- 1–3 years of experience in stewarding, kitchen operations, or food & beverage support
- Knowledge of sanitation, cleanliness, and food safety standards
- Ability to lift, move, and store heavy service items and equipment
- Availability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Assistant Steward Critical Skills:
- Ability to operate basic machinery
- Ability to follow checklists and standard operating procedures
- Ability to understand health department regulations related to ware washing, time, and temperature controls for safety, sanitation, and food storage hierarchy
- Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and detail
- Knowledge of state and federal health and sanitation codes
- Ability to supervise, train, and support stewarding staff
- Effective time management and task prioritization skills
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Dependability and a proactive work ethic
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Problem-solving skills and sound judgment
Assistant Steward Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds unassisted
- Ability to safely climb a ladder attached to a large truck
- Ability to stand, walk, lift, and move for 95% of shift
