Agronomist & Agronomic Service Sales
United Soils Inc. is seeking an experienced Agronomist & Agronomic Service Sales Representative to join our team. This full time position combines hands on agronomy, precision agriculture, grower support, and agronomic sales.
The ideal candidate is an experienced Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) who can confidently interpret soil test results, develop fertilizer and nutrient management recommendations, work with precision agriculture data, and communicate directly with growers about their operations.
This is not an entry level position. Candidates must have a current CCA certification, the required agronomic education, and at least 4 years of professional, hands on agronomy experience working directly with growers and/or agricultural retailers.

About the Position
This is a full time position that combines agronomy and customer support with agronomic sales and business development.
During peak agricultural seasons, the position is more heavily focused on soil test interpretation, fertilizer recommendations, precision agriculture work, grower questions, and technical agronomic support.
During the agricultural off season, the focus shifts toward grower relationships, sales development, customer follow up, planning for the upcoming growing season, and educational outreach.
How You Will Help Us GrowAgronomy & Precision Agriculture
- Interpret soil test results and provide sound, data driven fertilizer and nutrient management recommendations for growers.
- Develop fertility programs based on soil test data, crop requirements, yield goals, field conditions, customer needs, 4R Nutrient Stewardship, and sound agronomic practices.
- Work directly with growers to answer agronomic questions and provide guidance on soil fertility, crop nutrition, rotations, soil health, and nutrient management.
- Utilize precision agriculture software, GPS/GIS, soil test data, yield data, and field information to develop, review, and export VRA fertilizer recommendations and prescription maps.
- Conduct field visits as needed to evaluate crop health, soil conditions, nutrient concerns, and other agronomic factors.
- Understand agricultural soil testing methods and how soil sampling, laboratory analysis, soil chemistry, and field conditions relate to fertilizer recommendations.
- Provide clear written and verbal recommendations for agricultural, lawn, garden, food plot, and specialty soil samples and answer customer questions regarding their results.
- Follow up with customers on soil test results, fertility needs, and planning for the upcoming growing season.
Sales & Customer Development
- Build and maintain strong relationships with growers, agricultural retailers, crop advisers, and other agricultural professionals.
- Develop new business through existing relationships, referrals, prospecting, grower outreach, and cold calling.
- Use agronomic knowledge to identify customer needs and recommend appropriate soil sampling, soil testing, plant tissue testing, manure testing, precision agriculture, and laboratory services.
- Help growers select fertility and testing programs that fit their soils, crops, management goals, and operation while following sound agronomic standards.
- Educate growers on the value of soil testing, plant tissue analysis, manure testing, precision agriculture, VRA, and other services offered by United Soils.
- Assist with grower meetings, educational programs, presentations, and agronomic content for digital and social media outreach.
- Maintain customer follow up and sales records and assist customers with planning for the next growing season.
- Perform additional agronomy, customer service, and sales responsibilities as needed based on seasonal workload and customer needs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher specifically in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, or Plant Science.
- Current Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) certification or higher.
- 4+ years of professional, hands on agronomy experience working directly with commercial growers and/or agricultural retailers.
- Experience independently interpreting soil test results and developing fertilizer and nutrient management recommendations.
- Strong working knowledge of soil fertility, crop nutrition, fertilizer recommendations, soil management, and 4R Nutrient Stewardship.
- Professional experience with precision agriculture, GPS/GIS mapping, and VRA fertilizer recommendations.
- Experience with soil sampling and field level crop and soil evaluation.
- Ability to confidently communicate agronomic recommendations and technical information directly to growers and customers.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills for clearly explaining technical agronomic information and recommendations.
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, customer service, and computer skills.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel for customer and field visits.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ year of agronomic or technical agricultural sales experience.
- Understanding of agricultural soil testing laboratory methods.
- Experience with I.F.A.R.M. or similar precision agriculture software.
- Experience conducting grower meetings, presentations, or agricultural education.

We are looking for an experienced Agronomist who can independently evaluate soil and agronomic information, develop sound recommendations, and confidently explain the reasoning behind those recommendations.
Growers often have questions that extend beyond an individual soil test result. The right candidate will understand how soil testing, fertility, crop production, precision agriculture, nutrient management, and field performance work together and will use that knowledge to build trusted customer relationships and help growers make informed decisions.

Pay: $68,334.50 - $82,295.30 per year
