We are seeking an experienced Insurance Sales Professor / Trainer to educate, coach, and develop insurance sales professionals with a strong emphasis on auto insurance, sales techniques, lead conversion, customer retention, and cross-selling.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in the insurance industry, particularly auto insurance and coverage options, combined with a proven ability to train and motivate sales teams. This individual should be comfortable teaching both technical insurance concepts and practical sales strategies in a classroom, virtual, or one-on-one coaching environment.
Key Responsibilities
Insurance Training & Education
- Develop and deliver engaging training programs focused on auto insurance products, coverages, underwriting fundamentals, and sales practices.
- Teach agents how to clearly explain insurance coverages, limits, deductibles, exclusions, and policy options to customers.
- Train new and existing sales representatives on insurance terminology, products, systems, and sales processes.
- Create training materials, presentations, role-play exercises, quizzes, and other educational resources.
- Conduct ongoing coaching and refresher training to improve agent knowledge and sales performance.
- Ensure training content aligns with applicable company policies, insurance regulations, and compliance requirements.
Sales & Lead Conversion
- Train agents on effective lead management, prospecting, follow-up, and closing techniques.
- Teach strategies for converting inbound and outbound leads into new customers.
- Coach agents on objection handling, needs-based selling, customer discovery, and closing.
- Develop role-play scenarios based on real-world insurance sales situations.
- Analyze sales performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Help agents improve conversion rates, average policy value, retention, and overall sales productivity.
Cross-Selling & Customer Retention
- Train agents to identify customer needs and appropriately recommend additional insurance products.
- Develop strategies for cross-selling and bundling, including opportunities such as auto, home, renters, life, and other applicable products.
- Teach agents how to identify cross-sell opportunities without using overly aggressive or inappropriate sales tactics.
- Coach teams on building long-term customer relationships and increasing customer retention.
- Establish best practices for account reviews, renewal conversations, and additional product opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- Bilingual in English and Spanish – required.
- Strong professional background in auto insurance.
- In-depth knowledge of auto insurance coverages, including liability, comprehensive, collision, uninsured/underinsured motorist, medical payments/PIP where applicable, deductibles, limits, and exclusions.
- Proven experience in insurance sales, preferably in a high-volume or lead-driven environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of lead generation, lead conversion, prospecting, follow-up, closing, and cross-selling.
- Previous experience training, coaching, teaching, or mentoring insurance agents or sales professionals.
- Strong understanding of customer needs analysis and consultative selling.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to simplify complex insurance concepts and teach them effectively.
- Strong presentation, facilitation, and classroom-management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active insurance license(s), such as Property & Casualty, where applicable.
- Experience with personal lines insurance, particularly auto and home/renters.
- Experience managing or coaching an insurance sales team.
- Experience working with CRM, lead-management, quoting, or insurance agency systems.
- Experience developing sales training programs or curriculum.
- Experience with call-center or high-volume insurance sales.
- Familiarity with sales KPIs such as conversion rate, quote-to-bind ratio, close rate, retention, revenue per customer, and cross-sell rate.
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
