POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced Litigation Attorney to join our growing team. The attorney will manage a diverse civil litigation caseload and contribute throughout the life of each matter, including initial evaluation, written discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediation, trial preparation, and resolution.
The ideal candidate is a strategic and persuasive advocate who writes exceptionally well, communicates clearly, manages competing deadlines effectively, and approaches each matter with professionalism, accountability, and careful attention to detail.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage assigned litigation matters from initial evaluation through resolution
- Develop case strategy in collaboration with clients, shareholders, and the legal team
- Draft and revise pleadings, written discovery, motions, memoranda, briefs, and legal correspondence
- Conduct legal research and prepare clear analysis on complex factual and legal issues
- Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, experts, and corporate representatives
- Prepare for and attend hearings, mediations, case management conferences, and trials
- Evaluate liability, damages, defenses, exposure, and opportunities for efficient resolution
- Direct discovery, document review, expert development, and preparation of evidentiary materials
- Prepare witnesses and collaborate with experts in advance of depositions and trial
- Maintain accurate calendars and comply with court rules, filing requirements, and case deadlines
- Communicate proactively with clients regarding strategy, material developments, budgets, and case status
- Provide guidance and clear assignments to paralegals, nurses, and other legal support professionals
- Maintain timely and accurate time entries and case records
- Protect confidential and privileged information at all times
- Support evolving Firm procedures and business initiatives as the practice continues to expand
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
- Active admission to The Florida Bar in good standing
- Minimum of three years of meaningful litigation experience
- Demonstrated experience drafting pleadings, motions, discovery, and legal briefs
- Experience taking or defending depositions and participating in court proceedings
- Strong knowledge of civil procedure, evidence, discovery obligations, and litigation practice
- Exceptional legal research, analytical, writing, and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters and strict deadlines with limited supervision
- Excellent judgment, professionalism, responsiveness, and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys and legal support professionals
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, electronic filing systems, and legal research and case management platforms
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Civil defense litigation experience
- Experience in medical malpractice, insurance defense, automobile liability, trucking, health law, or professional liability matters
- Experience preparing cases for trial and serving in a meaningful trial role
- Experience practicing in Florida state and federal courts
- Established ability to develop client relationships and communicate practical legal strategy
