American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Urology Ambulatory Care position at a large academic teaching hospital in Washington, DC, requiring an active DC RN license and at least one prior travel assignment.

Ambulatory Care unit within a large 818-bed academic teaching facility
-
Urology-focused patient population with procedures including urodynamic studies and video urodynamic studies (VUDS)
-
Involves use of C-Arm equipment; RN is required to wear a lead apron, typically one day per week with occasional additional cases
-
Foley catheter insertion, urinary catheter changes, and assistance with or setup of urology procedures are core to the role
-
Charting is performed using an EMR system; Cerner experience preferred
-
Day shift schedule: 5x8-hour shifts, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
-
Floating required within units of equivalent or lower acuity
-
Unit is closed on hospital-observed holidays
-
Active DC RN license currently in hand

Current BLS certification required
-
Minimum 2 years of RN experience required

At least 1 prior travel assignment required

General nursing experience including urinary catheter management and procedure assistance is prioritized over specialty-specific background
-
Proficiency in core clinical skills: vital signs, pulse oximetry, pain assessment, medication reconciliation, lab result interpretation, oxygen administration, Foley catheter insertion, specimen labeling, and universal precautions

Experience with altered level of consciousness management and AED use required

Ability to tolerate regularly wearing a lead apron

Any EMR experience required; Cerner preferred

Academic teaching hospital environment with 818 staffed beds
-
Candidates may come into contact with COVID-positive patients

No holiday work on hospital-approved holidays

Ceil blue scrubs required
