American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring an active OR RN license, 2 years of ICU experience, and recent Epic experience.

Work in the Neuro ICU of a Level II Trauma Center hospital
-
Diverse ICU patient population including neuro, cardiac, trauma, and medical cases
-
Common diagnoses include GIB, ETOH withdrawal, DKA, sepsis, COVID, ARDS, CHF, CKD, AKI, post cardiac arrest, MSOF, CVA, and ICH
-
Patient ratio of 1:2

Uses Epic EMR system
-
Day shift schedule of 3x12 hours from 19:00-07:30
-
36 guaranteed hours per week
-
Weekend flexibility required based on unit needs
-
No on-call requirements
-
Floating required between CVICU and NTICU, as well as Telemetry, Acute Care (neurology, surgical, ortho/med), Observation, and ED boarding
-
Occasional floating to University District facility may be required
-
4-hour orientation provided for floating assignments
-
Common equipment includes PA catheters, Impella devices, ventilators, CRRT, IABP, Zoll cooling catheters, and Arctic Sun pads
-
Performs specialized procedures including chest tube insertion, central line placement, PICC insertion, bedside tracheostomy, intubation, and post cardiac arrest cooling catheter placement

Active OR RN license required
-
Washington RN license (temporary or permanent) required; pending license applications accepted with potential start date delay of up to 8 weeks
-
BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required and must be in hand before start date
-
TNCC/TCAR, CCRN, CSC, SCRN, and TCRN certifications preferred
-
Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required, with 1 year as permanent staff prior to travel assignments
-
Candidates with 1.5 years of similar ICU experience may be considered
-
Recent Epic EMR experience required
-
Previous trauma experience required
-
Level I and Level II Trauma Center experience preferred
-
2-3 completed travel assignments preferred
-
Skilled in ventilator management, arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
-
Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and multi-system organ failure
-
Skilled in CVA/acute stroke management and post-neurosurgery care
-
Skilled in hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun management and thermoregulation
-
Skilled in continuous IV sedation, vasoactive drip titration, and emergency medication administration
-
Skilled in ABG interpretation and suctioning (ETT, NT)
-
Skilled in IV insulin protocols and chronic/acute renal failure management
-
Skilled in pre/post cardiac catheterization care and sheath removal
-
Two professional references from the past 2 years required, with at least one from a supervisor
-
Provide comprehensive ICU nursing care across a diverse patient population including neuro, cardiac, and trauma cases
-
Assist with procedures such as chest tube insertion/removal, central line placement, PICC insertion, bedside tracheostomy, and intubation
-
Serve as backup support for the Hospital Cardiac Arrest Team and Massive Transfusion Team
-
Facility is a nonprofit, Level II Trauma Center with 385 staffed beds
-
Any scrub color is acceptable

Previous PeaceHealth employees must have been separated from the health system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
