Founded in 1956, Laughlin Children’s Center is a highly respected nonprofit organization committed to supporting the educational, emotional, and developmental needs of children ages two to eighteen across Pennsylvania. Through a coordinated team of expert educators and clinicians, the Center empowers children to reach their full potential. Laughlin offers services including early childhood education, clinical, and academic services all in one outpatient location. Laughlin fosters meaningful collaboration across disciplines, to ensure each child receives comprehensive, individualized care.
The Opportunity:
Laughlin Children’s Center is seeking a part-time Licensed Professional Counselor to provide services 1–2 late afternoons/early evenings per week between 3:00 and 7:00 PM Monday-Thursday. Sessions may be in person and/or virtual depending on the needs of the client. The role is delivering counseling for children and families and managing caseload, collaborating as a part of a multidisciplinary team. The successful LPC will have a strong knowledge of child development, family systems, family therapy and clinical experience working with children and adolescents.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments to identify each child's emotional, behavioral, social, and family strengths and needs.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans using evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
- Provide individual, family, and group counseling to children, adolescents, and caregivers.
- Collaborate with families, schools, physicians, and community partners to coordinate services and support positive outcomes.
- Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation, including evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, insurance reimbursement and discharge summaries.
- Monitor client progress and modify interventions based on ongoing assessment and measurable outcomes.
- Provide risk assessments when appropriate, including development of safety plans and referrals to higher levels of care as needed.
- Connect families with community resources and assist with care coordination to reduce barriers to treatment and improve access to services.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to collaborative treatment planning using a whole-child approach.
- Educate and coach parents and caregivers on strategies that support children's emotional, behavioral, and social development outside of therapy sessions.
- Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based practices, ethical standards, state regulations, and payer requirements through continuing professional development.
- Protect client confidentiality and practice in accordance with Code of Ethics, HIPAA, Medicaid, and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, program development, and outcome measurement efforts.
- Build positive relationships with children, families, referral sources, and community partners while representing the organization professionally.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of the organization's mission and strategic goals.
Qualifications
Required Education, Credentials & Clearances:
- Current Pennsylvania License in good standing
- Federal Criminal History Check, Pennsylvania Criminal History Check, Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance, and FBI fingerprinting required
- Trained in CPR & First Aid
