Position Overview
Maaco Collision & Auto Painting is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Automotive Painter to join our team. This role is responsible for performing all aspects of vehicle refinishing, including surface preparation, masking, priming, color application, and final finish work. The ideal candidate takes pride in delivering high-quality results, works efficiently in a production environment, and maintains a clean and safe workspace.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare vehicles for paint, including sanding, masking, priming, and cleaning surfaces
- Mix and apply paint according to manufacturer specifications and color formulas
- Perform high-quality refinishing, blending, and full-body paint application
- Ensure accurate color matching and consistent finish quality
- Inspect completed work for defects, overspray, and overall workmanship
- Maintain paint equipment, tools, and booth cleanliness
- Follow all safety, environmental, and OSHA guidelines
- Collaborate with the production team to ensure timely workflow
Qualifications
Required:
- Automotive painting experience (production or collision environment)
- Proficiency with spray guns, paint mixing, and refinishing equipment
- Strong understanding of prep, sanding, masking, and finish techniques
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to quality and safety
Preferred:
- 2+ years professional automotive refinishing experience
- Experience with Maaco or similar high-volume shop
- Knowledge of PPG, Sherwin-Williams, BASF, or similar paint systems
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift 25–50 lbs
- Ability to work in a paint booth environment
