We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified mid-level civil engineering technician to join our construction services team and to lead or support field operations on active highway projects.
Description

Lead projects and/or perform daily construction inspection on WisDOT highway and bridge projects, ensuring contractor compliance with project plans, specifications, and standards.

Document field activities, track quantities, and prepare daily inspection reports using WisDOT-approved systems (e.g., AASHTOWare Project).

Conduct or observe field testing of materials (concrete, asphalt, soils, aggregates) in accordance with WisDOT requirements.

Communicate and coordinate with project engineers, contractors, and WisDOT staff to address issues in the field.

Perform or support team with project documentation, pay estimates, and plan interpretation.

Assist with traffic control checks, erosion control monitoring, and safety compliance.
Qualifications
EducationExperience
-
Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or related field
-
6-15+ years of experience in roadway or bridge construction inspection
-
Familiarity with WisDOT specifications, standards, and documentation procedures (preferred)
Technical Knowledge
-
WisDOT HTCP certifications (Aggregates, Concrete, Asphalt, Density) strongly preferred; ability to obtain if not already certified.
