Job Summary
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing and developing engineering drawings, technical documentation, and manufacturing support for sheet metal components, enclosures, mounting solutions, and other fabricated metal products. This role collaborates with suppliers, estimators, and internal teams to ensure designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and meet quality standards. The Mechanical Engineer utilizes CAD software, including SolidWorks and AutoCAD, to create and maintain engineering documentation, support fabrication processes, prepare material take-offs, and provide technical guidance throughout the production lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Development: Create or redesign mechanical products, equipment, and systems using CAD software.
- Problem-Solving: Investigate equipment failures or malfunctions to diagnose faulty operations and recommend solutions.
- Manufacturing Oversight: Supervise production processes to ensure quality control and efficiency.
- Troubleshooting: Investigate equipment failures, diagnose faulty operations, and recommend design improvements.
- Technical Documentation: Create, review, and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical reports.
- Project Management: Estimate budgets, timelines, and material requirements for engineering projects
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline is almost always required.
- Technical Proficiency: Expertise in AutoCAD, SolidWorks or other design software, as well as knowledge of structural mechanics and materials science. Experience in sheet metal manufacturing will be a major plus.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex data to identify the root cause of issues and develop effective solutions. Expert in Excel will be a plus.
- Communication and Teamwork: Engineers must collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and present their findings to clients or managers.
Pay: $80,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
