Director of Business Development – Houston Medical Center
Position Summary
We are seeking a high-performing Director of Business Development to drive census growth and referral development across multiple Skilled Nursing and Transitional Care facilities. This role focuses on hospital partnerships, physician development, managed care relationships, regional market growth, and referral management.
The ideal candidate possesses strong post-acute industry knowledge, experience utilizing ExaCare, and a proven track record of developing referral partnerships that generate high-quality admissions and sustainable growth.
Primary Responsibilities
Referral & Business Development

Develop and maintain strategic relationships with referral sources throughout assigned regional markets.

Establish and grow relationships with physicians, specialists, hospitalists, discharge planners, case managers, and managed care organizations.

Execute physician development strategies designed to increase referrals and market share.

Conduct regular calls and presentations to hospitals, physician groups, ACOs, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, and senior living providers.

Identify opportunities for growth through market analysis and referral trend monitoring.

Represent the organization at networking events, healthcare forums, and community functions.
Referral Management & Admissions Coordination

Manage referral opportunities through ExaCare to ensure timely follow-up, evaluation, decision-making, and conversion.

Coordinate communication between referral sources and facility leadership teams to facilitate admissions.

Collaborate with facility leadership to optimize admission acceptance rates and census growth.

Communicate facility capabilities, specialty programs, and service offerings to referral partners.

Monitor referral pipeline activity to ensure responsiveness and customer satisfaction.
Regional Support

Provide marketing and census development support across multiple facilities within assigned regions.

Partner with Regional Directors and Executive Directors to execute growth initiatives.

Assist facilities experiencing census challenges by implementing targeted referral development plans.

Support facility launch initiatives, physician engagement programs, and market expansion strategies.
Reporting & Analytics

Maintain accurate referral tracking and pipeline management within ExaCare.

Analyze referral patterns, conversion rates, lost opportunities, and admission trends.

Develop action plans based on data and market intelligence.

Provide regular reporting to regional and executive leadership regarding growth performance and referral activity.
Required Qualifications

Minimum three (3) years of Skilled Nursing, Post-Acute Care, Healthcare Marketing, or Business Development experience.

Demonstrated success growing census within skilled nursing, rehabilitation, LTAC, transitional care, or healthcare service environments.

Required experience utilizing ExaCare admission and referral management platform.

Strong physician development and physician relationship management experience.

Knowledge of Medicare, Managed Medicare, Managed Care, and post-acute reimbursement models.

Ability to analyze market data and develop growth strategies.

Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

Valid Texas Driver's License.

Reliable transportation with the ability to travel throughout assigned regional markets.
Preferred Qualifications

Existing physician and hospital relationships within assigned markets.

Experience working in skilled nursing, rehabilitation, transitional care, home health, hospice, or healthcare services.

Knowledge of PointClickCare, ExaCare, WellSky, and managed care portals.

Multi-facility or regional business development experience preferred.

Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Marketing, Communications, or related field preferred.
