HR Specialist
Location: Fitzwater Outdoor Maintenance - Greenville, OH
Position Type: Full-Time, Onsite Only
Note to Applicants: This role requires a daily onsite presence to effectively manage system integration alongside our local team. While we maintain the flexibility to allow occasional remote work for urgent circumstances or severe weather, this is not a hybrid or remote position. Local commuting candidates are highly preferred.
Overview
This role jumps in as the backbone of our HR digital transformation. You will help architect our move from a combination of manual and mid-tier HRIS systems to an enterprise-level HCM system. You are the technical lead during the transition, ensuring data accuracy and seamless workflow migration.
In tandem you will provide rigorous administration of our industry-specific compliance and training requirements. This includes overseeing employee licensing, industry certifications and affiliations. And, supporting the execution of a professional development framework in the HCM system which is critical to support our team members’ growth in their careers in providing high level service and exceeding the expectations of our customers.
Ongoing, you will manage the operational integrity of the HCM system to leverage its full potential ensuring every team member is qualified and compliant to perform their role in our industry which relies heavily on safety and specialized training credentials.

Key Responsibilities
1. HCM Implementation & Operational Support
- Support the system transition by cleaning, mapping, and reconciling employee data.
- Assist with corporate mergers and acquisitions (M&A) by leading historical data cleanup initiatives and auditing records for seamless workforce integrations.
- Assist with configuration, user testing, and data validation to ensure system conversion accuracy.
- Maintain ongoing system hygiene and audit data logs to ensure accuracy after go-live.
2. Compliance, License & Asset Administration
- Administer, audit and track mandatory licenses and certifications (DL, CDL, Certified Arborist, Spray Tech, etc.).
- Manage industry accreditations and renewals (ISA, TCIA, OGIA, OLCA, Ohio Nursery Exchange, ODA, Indiana Chemist, etc.).
- Maintain accurate, audit-ready records for all external customer requirements, including employee ID and badge tracking.
- Manage the internal tracking, assignment, and auditing of company-issued field assets, including gas cards, corporate credit cards, keys, equipment, etc.
- Ensure all safety and regulatory documentation meets state and industry-specific mandates.
3. Professional Development & Training
- Assist management in executing a role-based professional development framework and tracking on-the-job training requirements in the HCM system.
- Identify and track career advancement milestones, ensuring employees complete the necessary training and certifications to move to the next level.
- Collaborate with department heads to identify skill gaps and schedule necessary development training.
Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or 2+ years of experience in HR operations, HRIS administration, or a compliance-heavy HR role.
- Self-motivated, flexible, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively.
- Experience leading projects or coordinating cross-functional project teams.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills working between technical teams, end users and stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills with the ability to assess data quality, troubleshoot issues, and interpret system behavior.
- Ability to handle sensitive data with extreme accuracy.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the active use of PivotTables, Power Query, and advanced data functions for system reconciliation and automated reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams).
- A consistent record of delivering high-quality work under tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting system implementations, upgrades, patches or large-scale platform changes.
- A strong background supporting mergers and acquisitions (M&A) is a major plus, particularly with historical data cleanup and workforce integrations.
- Prior experience implementing HRIS / HCM software, including system configuration and testing.
- Working knowledge of HRIS databases, including custom report writing and advanced data querying for validation and investigation.
- Experience with Paycor, Oracle PeopleSoft or Fusion HCM.
