Charak Center is a well-established, state-certified and Joint Commission-accredited behavioral health agency with multiple locations throughout Northeast Ohio. Due to continued growth, we are currently hiring Therapeutic Behavior Specialists/Case Managers at our Elyria, Garfield Heights, Medina, Mentor, and Stow locations.
Position Overview
The Therapeutic Behavior Specialist/Case Manager provides direct behavioral health services, therapeutic behavioral supports, and case management services to individuals receiving mental health and/or substance use recovery treatment.
This position works collaboratively with clients, families, providers, and community resources to help clients achieve goals identified in their Individualized Service Plans (ISPs), develop independent living skills, improve social functioning, access needed resources, and strengthen recovery.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Individualized Service Plans (ISPs) by assisting clients in identifying personal goals and the skills, supports, and resources needed to achieve those goals.
- Provide therapeutic behavioral support and case management services, including linking, coordinating, and managing services related to established ISP goals.
- Utilize evidence-based interventions and behavioral health techniques appropriate to the client's needs.
- Identify appropriate strategies, interventions, and treatment options in collaboration with the treatment team.
- Establish, organize, and facilitate skill-development groups.
- Assist clients in restoring and strengthening social skills, independent living skills, and daily functioning.
- Facilitate clients' access to and utilization of community resources, including accompanying and/or transporting clients when necessary and authorized.
- Provide crisis intervention services when authorized, appropriate, and necessary.
- Provide direct services at a rate that meets or exceeds the agency's established productivity standards.
- Participate in clinical case meetings, staff development, and other activities necessary to support quality client care.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical and administrative documentation in accordance with agency requirements.
- Monitor and support medication compliance as appropriate to the position and treatment plan.
- Assist clients with understanding, accessing, and utilizing health insurance benefits, including publicly funded services.
- Maintain professional conduct, appearance, and communication with clients, coworkers, and community partners.
- Check and respond to agency email on a daily basis.
- Maintain documentation in accordance with agency quality assurance procedures and established performance standards.
- Promote safety, quality care, client rights, and positive treatment outcomes throughout the department and agency.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned in support of client care and agency operations.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- College education preferred.
- Minimum of three years of experience working in mental health and/or substance use recovery services.
- Experience providing case management, behavioral health, community-based, or direct client services preferred.
Licensure & Credentials
- Valid Ohio driver's license required.
- Must maintain current credentials consistent with applicable requirements under Ohio Revised Code Chapter 5122-29 and agency credentialing standards.
- Professional behavioral health licensure is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree and LSW credential preferred.

Work Schedule & Overtime
This is a non-exempt position eligible for overtime pay. Overtime must be approved by the employee's supervisor before overtime hours are worked.
Normal site hours for appointments are generally 9:00 AM–5:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with meetings and other activities scheduled as needed. From time to time, work requirements may necessitate an employee working beyond the normal workweek.
OSHA / Exposure Category
This position may involve tasks that include potential exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. Employees are offered the opportunity to receive the Hepatitis B vaccination series at the Practice's expense, consistent with applicable requirements and agency policy.
