Responsibilities
Perform obstetric nursing care for laboring patients with evidence-based practices.
Monitor fetal well-being and respond to distress with timely interventions.
Assess and manage intrapartum risk factors; initiate escalation as needed.
Adhere to hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesia, and support staff to coordinate care.
Educate patients and families on labor options, pain relief, and postnatal care.
Document care activities accurately in electronic medical records for high visibility.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and participate in performance metrics.
Mentor junior staff and share best practices to foster professional growth.
Assist with neonatal stabilization and transfer when necessary.
Maintain equipment readiness and manage supply levels for labor and delivery.
Experience/Qualifications
Active RN license with obstetric or perinatal specialty preferred
BSN preferred; strong volume obstetric nursing experience required
Demonstrated proficiency in fetal monitoring and intrapartum interventions
Ability to respond to obstetric emergencies and coordinate escalation
Proficient in electronic medical records and accurate documentation
Strong patient and family education, including pain relief options
Team collaboration with obstetrics, anesthesia, and support staff
Commitment to quality improvement, performance metrics, and data-driven targets
Ability to mentor junior staff and lead by example
Experience with neonatal stabilization and transfer protocols
Maintain equipment readiness and manage labor & delivery supplies
