Shift Lead
Location: Dairy Queen – Lee's Summit, MO
Position Summary
The Shift Lead is responsible for supporting daily restaurant operations, ensuring excellent customer service, maintaining food quality standards, and assisting in leading team members during assigned shifts. This role serves as a key point of contact between crew members and management, helping create a positive, productive, and customer-focused environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Support
- Lead and motivate team members during assigned shifts.
- Delegate tasks and ensure team members complete duties efficiently.
- Assist with onboarding and training new employees.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive workplace culture.
- Address minor employee concerns and communicate issues to management when necessary.
Customer Service
- Deliver exceptional customer service and ensure guest satisfaction.
- Resolve customer concerns professionally and promptly.
- Maintain a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for guests.
- Support the team during peak business hours to ensure efficient service.
Operations Management
- Open and close the restaurant according to company procedures.
- Monitor food preparation to ensure quality, consistency, and food safety standards.
- Manage shift workflow, labor efficiency, and task completion.
- Ensure compliance with Dairy Queen operational policies and procedures.
- Conduct routine cleanliness and sanitation checks throughout the restaurant.
Cash Handling & Inventory
- Assist with cash register operations, cash counts, and deposits as required.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply needs to management.
- Help minimize waste and control food costs.
Safety & Compliance
- Maintain compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
- Ensure all equipment is operated safely and maintained properly.
- Follow company policies regarding food handling, workplace safety, and security.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in a restaurant, retail, or customer service environment required.
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic cash handling and problem-solving skills.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
