Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Manual Machinist In this role, you will operate and maintain manual machining equipment to produce test coupons to detailed specifications. Your expertise in blueprint reading, mechanical knowledge, and use of precision measuring instruments will ensure the highest quality standards are met.
Responsibilities
- Maintain, set up and operate manual machining tools such as lathes, mills, grinders, saws and drills with precision and efficiency.
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications to produce accurate parts.
- Use precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, and bore gauges to verify dimensions and tolerances.
- Perform routine maintenance on machining equipment and troubleshoot issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Select appropriate tooling and fixtures for each project, ensuring optimal machining conditions.
- Follow safety protocols rigorously while handling hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other machinery.
Skills
- Strong machinist knowledge with experience in manufacturing environments.
- Proficiency in blueprint reading and interpreting technical drawings.
- Skilled in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and bore gauges.
- Knowledge and operation of manual lathes and milling machines
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, tooling equipment, welding apparatus, and forklift trucks safely.
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and quality control procedures.
- Understanding of lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflow efficiency.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints for machining purposes.
