Production Manager
Custom Metal Fabrication | TuscoMFG
Location: Gnadenhutten, OH — serving the New Philadelphia, Dover, and Uhrichsville area
Pay: $75,000 – $85,000/year (Exempt, Salaried)
Schedule: Full-time, on-site
Reports To: Director of Operations & Facilities Management
Team: 20–30 direct reports (Team Leads & Production Staff)
About the Role
TuscoMFG is a custom metal fabrication job shop in Gnadenhutten, OH, running laser/turret cutting, forming, welding, finishing, and assembly across a high-mix, low-volume production floor. We're looking for a hands-on Production Manager to own day-to-day performance on the floor — hitting spec, on-time delivery, and labor and scrap targets — while leading a team of Team Leads and production staff through daily execution.
What You'll Do
Floor Leadership
Directly manage all Team Leads and production employees in each process area
Run daily production huddles or shift handoffs to align the team on priorities and open issues
Hold regular one-on-ones with Team Leads and associate staff; coach, develop, and manage performance in partnership with HR
Approve time-off requests, manage overtime, and balance staffing across areas as workload shifts
Build bench strength by identifying and developing future Team Leads and cross-trained operators
Schedule Execution
Ensure the floor executes against the schedule built by our Production Scheduler, and own schedule adherence across departments
When something falls behind, bring a clear recovery plan — root cause, corrective action, and revised timeline
Work closely with the Scheduler on realistic capacity, planned downtime, and staffing changes that affect what's achievable
Escalate to the Director of Operations & Facilities Management when a schedule risk can't be resolved through normal recovery steps
Quality & Continuous Improvement
Ensure production output meets spec and customer quality requirements across all departments
Drive root-cause analysis and corrective action on recurring quality or schedule issues
Champion continuous improvement on the floor — 5S, standard work, cycle-time reduction
Schedule & On-Site Expectations
On-site at the start of the production shift to lead the morning huddle and set priorities for the day. Primarily floor-based throughout the shift; when away from the floor, reachable by phone or text for anything that comes up.
What We Offer
Health, vision, dental, & life insurance
401k with company match
Paid Time Off in first year
10 Paid Company Holidays (two days at Thanksgiving & Christmas)
Paid training and opportunities for advancement
What You'll Bring
Required
5+ years of production leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, including direct supervisory or management responsibility
Experience managing through a lead or supervisor layer — managing managers/leads, not just individual contributors
Comfortable reading engineering prints and work order travelers
Strong coaching and conflict-resolution skills; able to hold Team Leads accountable without micromanaging technical decisions
Preferred
Familiarity with ERP/MES systems (Epicor or comparable)
Experience in job-shop, high-mix/low-volume production environments and routing logic
Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement certification/training
Physical Requirements
Frequent walking of the full production floor across all departments and shifts
Primarily floor-based with office time for reporting and administrative duties; exposure to shop floor noise
Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs
