About the Role
We’re building something new in eye care - a scalable model that connects optometrists and surgical centers to improve patient access and drive better clinical and financial outcomes.
As a Market Development Manager, you will own a local market and be responsible for building and growing a network of optometric partners who actively refer patients for surgical care.
This is a high-impact, field-based role focused on:
- Building relationships with optometrists
- Driving adoption of a new model
- Creating measurable growth within your market
This is not a passive account management role — you will be responsible for building, activating, and growing a referral network from the ground up.
What You’ll Do
Build the Network
- Identify and recruit optometric practices to participate in the program
- Develop strong relationships with doctors and staff
- Clearly communicate the value of the model and earn trust
Drive Adoption
- Train practices on workflows, patient identification, and referral processes
- Ensure teams are confident and equipped to participate
- Be present in-market to support early success
Generate Growth
- Help practices move from initial interest to consistent referral behavior
- Increase referral volume, case quality, and overall performance
- Track and manage performance across your market
Own Your Market
- Take full ownership of your region’s performance
- Identify opportunities, solve problems, and improve outcomes
- Partner with internal teams to continuously refine the model
What Success Looks Like
- You build a strong network of optometric partners in your market
- Those partners actively refer patients (not just sign up)
- Referral activity grows consistently over time
- Your market produces meaningful, measurable revenue growth
What We’re Looking For
Experience
- 5–8+ years in healthcare, medical sales, or provider-facing roles
- Experience working with optometrists, ophthalmologists, or similar providers preferred
- Background in territory growth, business development, or physician relations
Skills
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills
- Ability to influence behavior and drive adoption
- Comfortable presenting to physicians and clinical staff
- Data-driven mindset with ability to track and improve performance
Traits
- Self-starter who thrives in low-structure environments
- Competitive and results-oriented
- Comfortable being in the field and traveling regularly
- Motivated by building something and seeing tangible results
Why This Role
- Opportunity to build and own a market, not just manage accounts
- Direct impact on patient access and practice growth
- High visibility and opportunity to grow with the business
- Performance-driven compensation aligned to results
Compensation
- Competitive base salary
- Performance-based incentives tied to:
- Optometric partner signings
