Job Description: Line Cook/Prep Cook – Busy Bagel & Deli Restaurant
Position Overview
We are seeking a hardworking and detail-oriented Line Cook/Prep Cook to join our team at a busy bagel and deli restaurant. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess strong multitasking skills, and have a passion for preparing fresh, high-quality food. This position requires a team player who can work efficiently under pressure while maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
Responsibilities
- Food Preparation: Prepare ingredients, including slicing meats, cheeses, and vegetables, mixing spreads, and assembling sandwich components.
- Cooking: Operate grills, ovens, fryers, and stovetops to cook menu items such as breakfast sandwiches, bagels, and deli specials.
- Assembly: Assemble and plate menu items quickly and accurately according to restaurant standards.
- Stock Management: Monitor inventory levels, restock items as needed, and communicate shortages to management.
- Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and sanitary work area, including equipment, prep stations, and storage areas.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with kitchen staff and front-of-house team to ensure smooth operations during peak hours.
- Quality Control: Ensure all food meets quality and presentation standards before serving to customers.
- Compliance: Follow all health, safety, and food handling guidelines.
- Must be available weekends
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a line cook, prep cook, or similar role in a fast-paced kitchen is preferred.
- Familiarity with operating standard kitchen equipment and utensils.
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently without compromising food quality.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including mornings, weekends, and holidays.
- A positive attitude, reliability, and a willingness to learn and adapt.
- Food Handler’s Certification (or ability to obtain one) is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a high-temperature environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving, high-pressure setting.
