About the Position
Village Square Housing Cooperative (VSC) is seeking a dependable and skilled Grounds & Maintenance Technician to join our team. This position combines property maintenance and groundskeeping responsibilities to help ensure our cooperative community remains safe, clean, functional, and attractive for residents year-round.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, self-motivated, capable of working independently, and experienced in general property maintenance and outdoor grounds care.
Schedule
- Full-Time
- Monday through Friday
- Day Shift
- 8-Hour Shifts
- Additional hours may be available based on seasonal needs and special projects
Compensation
- $25.00 - $27.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Groundskeeping & Exterior Maintenance
- Mow lawns and maintain landscaped areas throughout the property
- Trim shrubs, bushes, and trees under 20 feet in height
- Remove leaves, debris, and litter from common areas
- Empty garbage receptacles throughout the property, including playgrounds and dog run areas
- Assist with snow removal, salting, and ice management during winter months
- Operate and maintain landscaping equipment safely and effectively
- Monitor property grounds for safety concerns and maintenance needs
Property Maintenance
- Perform general repairs and maintenance throughout residential units and common areas
- Complete preventative maintenance tasks and work orders in a timely manner
- Troubleshoot and repair minor plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and mechanical issues within the scope of the position
- Assist with unit turnover preparation and repairs
- Maintain community facilities, common spaces, and equipment
- Communicate maintenance concerns and project updates to management
General Responsibilities
- Follow all safety policies and procedures
- Maintain a professional and courteous attitude when interacting with residents
- Work independently while also collaborating with other team members when needed
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Property Manager
Qualifications
- Previous experience in apartment maintenance, property maintenance, facilities maintenance, groundskeeping, landscaping, or a related field preferred
- Ability to safely operate landscaping equipment, hand tools, and power tools
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions throughout the year
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance
- Valid driver's license preferred
- Ownership of basic maintenance tools is a plus
