Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Part Time 2nd Shift Welder to join our manufacturing team. This role involves performing precise welding and fabrication tasks to support the production of high-quality metal components. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical and technical skills, with experience working on construction sites and in fabrication shops. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to complex projects utilizing advanced welding techniques and interpreting detailed technical drawings. Responsibilities
- Perform MIG, TIG, FCAW, and SMAW welding on various metals including sheet metal, ductwork, and structural components in accordance with AWS standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and mechanical blueprints to ensure accurate fabrication.
- Use hand tools, power tools, calipers, micrometers, and shop math for measuring, cutting, and assembling metal parts.
- Operate fabrication equipment such as press brake machines, plasma cutters, and pipe threading tools.
- Conduct rigging and assembly of fabricated components while adhering to safety protocols.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area; inspect finished welds for quality assurance.
- Collaborate with team members on construction site projects or fabrication shop tasks requiring mechanical knowledge and precision.
- Support the interpretation of schematics related to ASME codes & standards and other industry specifications.
- Utilize forklifts or other material handling equipment as needed for moving heavy materials safely.
Experience
- Proven experience working on construction sites or in fabrication shops involving metal fabrication.
- Skilled in MIG welding, TIG welding, shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), and gas metal arc welding techniques.
- Familiarity with blueprint reading, schematic interpretation, and mechanical fabrication processes.
- Knowledge of construction processes including ductwork installation, pipe threading, and assembly.
- Experience operating power tools such as press brakes, plasma cutters, and machining equipment.
- Understanding of ASME codes & standards along with AWS welding certifications preferred.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings accurately using calipers, micrometers, schematics, and shop math.
- Prior experience with rigging, mechanical knowledge related to manufacturing or construction environments is highly desirable.
- Basic math skills necessary for measurements and calculations involved in fabrication tasks.
