Engagement Overview
DRAI Health is engaging an independent QA testing contractor to validate the DRAI Care application in live congregate care settings. The contractor exercises the application the way nursing staff use it, identifies defects and usability problems, and delivers written findings that the DRAI Health product and engineering teams can act on.
The contractor also gathers structured feedback from nursing staff at assigned locations and synthesizes it into periodic reports. The contractor determines the method, sequence, and pacing of the work required to produce the deliverables described below.
Our Environment
A Congregate Living Health Facility is a small residential setting, up to 18 beds, where nurses care for residents around the clock, including people who are medically fragile. Nurses use DRAI Care during their shifts to chart care, record medications, and track residents, so the application has to be dependable and easy to use. When something in the application does not work, it slows nurses down. That is why thorough testing and clear reporting matter here.
Location: This role requires the candidate to be located within a commutable distance of Palmdale, CA and to have reliable transportation.
Scope of Services
Release validation
- Test coverage. Validate the core areas of DRAI Care, including login, charting, medication recording, alerts, and reporting, against each release scope provided by DRAI Health.
- Exploratory and edge case testing. Exercise the application under rapid input, unusual data, varied devices, and varied screen sizes to surface freezes, crashes, and data loss conditions.
- Fix verification. Retest resolved defects and confirm whether the fix holds.
- Test records. Maintain a record of coverage executed and results obtained, in a format agreed with DRAI Health.
Defect reporting
- Reproducible write ups. Document the action taken, the expected result, and the actual result, with supporting screenshots, at a level of detail sufficient for a developer to reproduce the issue without follow up.
- Priority notification. Notify the DRAI Health point of contact promptly when a defect could affect a nurse's ability to chart or administer medication safely.
Nursing staff feedback
- Feedback collection. Gather issues, suggestions, and observed workarounds from nursing staff at assigned locations.
- Feedback synthesis. Deliver written summaries that translate nursing staff input into terms the product and engineering teams can act on.
- New feature observation. Observe nursing staff using new functionality and document the results.
Deliverables
- Per release. A completed test coverage record and a set of defect reports for each DRAI Care release within the engagement period.
- Ongoing. Defect reports filed as issues are identified, with priority notification for patient safety impacting defects.
- Monthly. A written nursing staff feedback synthesis covering assigned locations.
- On request. Observation notes from new feature sessions conducted during the period.
Contractor Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to test software applications and produce clear, reproducible written defect reports.
- Working fluency with computers, tablets, phones, and common applications, and the ability to pick up unfamiliar software independently.
- Strong attention to detail and the discipline to work through coverage systematically.
- Clear written and verbal communication, and comfort working alongside nursing staff in an active care setting.
- Ability to work independently without day to day supervision.
- Ability to be present on site at assigned CLHF locations, including during evening and weekend testing windows.
- Willingness to complete HIPAA training and execute a Business Associate Agreement prior to system access.
- Operating as an established sole proprietorship or business entity, with a W-9 and applicable business license on file.
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience in a healthcare setting, such as CNA, medical assistant, front desk, or caregiver.
- Prior software testing, help desk, ticketing, or troubleshooting experience.
- Familiarity with how applications function across screens, data, connectivity, and cloud storage.
- Coursework or certification in IT, healthcare, or software testing.
Independent Contractor Status
The contractor is an independent contractor and not an employee, partner, agent, or joint venturer of DRAI Health, Inc. The contractor is responsible for the manner and means of performing the services and determines their own working hours and testing methods, subject only to the release testing windows and facility access hours required to complete the deliverables.
- The contractor is solely responsible for all federal, state, and local taxes, including self employment tax. DRAI Health does not withhold taxes and will issue Form 1099-NEC.
- The contractor is not eligible for DRAI Health employee benefits, including health coverage, paid leave, retirement plans, or unemployment insurance.
- DRAI Health does not provide workers compensation coverage for the contractor. The contractor is responsible for their own coverage.
- The contractor is free to provide services to other clients during the engagement, subject to the confidentiality and conflict of interest terms of the Independent Contractor Agreement.
- The engagement is governed by a separate written Independent Contractor Agreement, which controls in the event of any conflict with this document.
Privacy, Security, and Data Handling
Testing is performed in DRAI Health test environments using synthetic or de identified data wherever possible. Any access to production systems containing protected health information is role based, limited to the minimum necessary, and logged. Because the contractor is not a member of the DRAI Health workforce, a signed Business Associate Agreement and completed HIPAA training are required before any system access is granted, along with a signed confidentiality and data handling agreement.
Facility Access Requirements
Access to licensed facilities is contingent on meeting each facility’s clearance requirements, which may include a criminal background clearance, tuberculosis screening, and immunization documentation. The contractor is responsible for obtaining and maintaining these clearances. DRAI Health cannot place a contractor on site without them.
Engagement Terms
The contractor invoices DRAI Health on an agreed cadence, with payment terms set in the Independent Contractor Agreement. Either party may terminate the engagement in accordance with the notice provisions of that agreement. This document describes the general scope of the engagement and is not an exhaustive list of services. Scope changes are made by written amendment.
