Assistant Director – Childcare Center

Sportz Center Academy is seeking an experienced, motivated, and hands-on Assistant Director to join our leadership team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to grow with our organization as we prepare to transition into our brand-new, state-of-the-art facility opening in December 2026.
We are looking for a leader who is organized, dependable, and passionate about providing high-quality childcare while supporting staff, families, and daily operations.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Center Director with the daily operation of the childcare center.
- Ensure compliance with all Georgia Bright from the Start (DECAL) rules, regulations, and licensing requirements.
- Supervise and support staff while maintaining a positive, professional work environment.
- Assist with staffing, scheduling, and classroom coverage.
- Fill in any classroom or operational position when needed.
- Oversee programs including:
- GA Pre-K
- Childcare (Ages 3–5)
- Before & After School Program
- Transportation Services
- Summer Camp
- School Break Camps
- Youth programs serving children ages 3–14
- Communicate effectively with parents and staff.
- Help train employees on company policies and procedures.
- Maintain licensing documentation and assist during state inspections.
- Support enrollment, customer service, and administrative duties.
- Help ensure a safe, clean, and organized learning environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of childcare management or leadership experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Georgia Bright from the Start (DECAL) Policies and Procedures required.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, large childcare facility.
- Must be a quick learner and willing to follow company policies and procedures.
- Must be dependable, flexible, and a team player.
- Experience supervising staff is required.
- Experience with transportation operations is a plus.
Requirements
- Must successfully complete and pass Georgia Comprehensive Background Check (Fingerprinting).
- CPR and First Aid Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain immediately upon hire).
- Must be able to work with children ages 3–14.
- Must be able to step into any position when needed to support center operations.
- Reliable transportation.

Job Type: Full-time
Schedule:
- Monday–Friday
- Occasional evenings or weekends for special events or trainings as needed
Pay: Competitive, based on experience.
Work Location: Decatur, GA
Pay: $38,000.00 - $42,000.00 per year
